Professional Learning

Whether you are a long-serving or new employee to Catholic Education in WA, we believe developing your knowledge and technical skills is vital. It’s vital as we seek to create environments that enhance learning, nurture young people and empowers them to live the Catholic faith in the spirit of Jesus Christ.

Many teams at the Catholic Education Office of Western Australia conduct a range of professional learning and accreditation programs. Professional learning is also undertaken within our individual schools, for example cultural immersion programs are usually done at the whole school level.

You will find most of these CEOWA-run programs and course outlines on the PL Portal. Where possible you will also be able to enrol online or download enrolment forms.

Accreditation

All CEOWA and school-based staff, regardless of role, begin the accreditation path with two components:

  • Orientation
  • Faith, Story and Witness.

The Accreditation Framework then helps us on our learning continuum with outlines and schedules available on the Professional Learning Portal.

Leadership Programs

The Catholic Education Office has developed a comprehensive series of Leadership Programs to assist the ongoing development of leadership capacity for school-based and Catholic Education Office of Western Australia (CEOWA) staff.

Cultural Immersion

The Cultural Immersion Program (CIP) is an interactive experience that is more of a 'thinkfest and feelfest' rather than a 'talkfest'.  The program is designed to be non-threatening and encourages maximum particpation from all attendees. CIP is a whole day event that comprises of 3 components, Order in Aboriginal Societies, True Reconciliation & What Does it Mean For The Individual and Implications for the Workplace. A fourth component that focuses on future directions for that workplace is encouraged. This fourth component is workplace driven and is part of the process of that workplace ‘moving forward.’ [More]
